A day trip to Lake Manyara National Park offers a chance to experience the natural beauty of Africa. The park is home to untouched groundwater lakes that are fed by underground springs and teeming with wildlife. It’s a haven for bird lovers and a habitat for iconic African animals like elephants and cape buffaloes. In addition, the park is where the very first Tarzan movie was filmed. The famous tree-climbing lions that inhabit the park are a sight to behold.
After breakfast, you will depart with a packed lunch from Arusha and drive to Lake Manyara National Park. The journey takes about two hours, and you will pass through the market town of Mto Wa Mbu on the way. Here, you can find fresh agricultural produce and souvenirs from the local cultures.
Upon arrival at the park, you will have the opportunity to witness a variety of animals and birds. The park’s tree-climbing lions are a particular highlight. Even those unfamiliar with bird watching can expect to be amazed by the sight of large flamingo flocks, circling birds of prey, and the brightly coloured lilac-breasted roller.
After our lunchbreak, we will head out for another safari and try to find the animals that we might not have spotted yet, so we can cross as many animal experiences as possible from our list. Af the end of the day, we will get ready for the drive back to Arusha.
