Experience Tanzania with Sarafika Tours: A Black-Owned, Female-Led Safari Company Focused on Sustainable Tourism

Experience Authentic African Safaris with Sarafika Tours: A Proudly Black-Owned Safari Company in Tanzania

At Sarafika Tours, we proudly stand as a Black owned safari company in Tanzania, dedicated to providing immersive and sustainable safari experiences across the country. Founded in 2023 and led by a Tanzanian woman deeply rooted in the local community, I returned to Tanzania in 2021 after years abroad like many in the African diaspora who often say, “one day I will return.” This journey reignited my passion for sharing Africa’s stunning beauty, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage.

Now based in Arusha, Tanzania, the safari capital of East Africa, I am thrilled to showcase the breathtaking landscapes and vibrant cultures that define Tanzania. Our location allows us to stay up-to-date on safari trends, ensuring our guests enjoy authentic and unforgettable experiences across Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar.

At Sarafika Tours, we aim to do more than just offer safaris; we’re on a mission to empower local communities and celebrate African culture. As a Black-owned business in Tanzania, we understand the importance of representation. We are committed to creating opportunities for local communities, particularly women and small businesses, to thrive in the tourism industry.

Our safaris showcase not only Tanzania’s famous wildlife but also its rich cultural tapestry. From the Maasai and Hadzabe people to Swahili traditions along the coast, by choosing Sarafika Tours, you’re not just experiencing Africa; you’re contributing to economic empowerment and sustainable tourism

MEET OUR ALL-LOCAL TEAM: Passionate About Africa

Our team at Sarafika Tours consists of passionate Tanzanian locals who share an unwavering love for Africa’s wilderness and wildlife. With expert English-speaking guides and friendly staff, we are dedicated to making your safari both unforgettable and personalized. Whether you’re an adventure seeker or a nature lover, we tailor each experience to create lasting memories while respecting Tanzania’s natural environment.

OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

As a Black-owned safari company, we take sustainability seriously. We believe tourism should uplift local communities, protect the environment, and provide fair employment opportunities. Here’s how Sarafika Tours supports sustainable tourism and empowers local communities:

  • Sustainability: We support small, local businesses and eco-friendly practices. Our safari routes and accommodations focus on minimizing environmental impact and benefiting the communities we operate in.
  • Conservation: We encourage travelers to bring refillable water bottles to reduce plastic waste during their trip.
  • Fair Employment: We offer fair wages and good working conditions for our team, from guides to drivers and support staff. Ethical tourism starts with treating our team with respect.
  • Respect for Wildlife: Sarafika Tours strictly adheres to ethical wildlife practices. We do not promote activities that disturb wildlife, like swimming with dolphins or petting animals.
  • Personalized Experiences: Each safari is tailored to our guests’ unique interests, whether tracking the Big Five in the Serengeti or exploring Tanzania’s indigenous communities.

WHY BLACK OWNED SAFARI COMPANIES MATTER IN TANZANIA

The tourism industry in Africa is dominated by foreign-owned companies, which can limit opportunities for local entrepreneurs and communities. Supporting an African Black-owned safari company like Sarafika Tours helps ensure that the economic benefits of tourism remain in Africa, directly empowering local communities.

By choosing Sarafika Tours, you are supporting women’s empowerment and Black entrepreneurship, ensuring that the tourism industry reflects the continent’s rich diversity. We proudly offer safaris that celebrate African excellence while positively impacting the environment and people of Tanzania.
